Flying Through (8:45AM, September 26, 2012)

Judy Underwood on Chasing Rainbow, via

Thursday Flash Fiction Week 28: Innocence and Dreams

An emergency phone call today,
Followed by a few others,
A suicide at locale Junior High,
students must go home,
So sad for the tears falling from
the child's parents, or family members,
friends, or relatives,
it's too early to see cold shivers!
The day has been dry, windy,
cloudy, and moody in the past 48 hours,
No rain but lots of lightening
from Northeastern sky,
Young adult or Juveniles are supposed to
have rich life,
But the hope is dead
for an individual who wishes to
become successful and respected,
He is determined and stuck in his view,
Familiar face, a sound name,
You are brave to take that step,
Peace for you,
Rest in the garden of Heaven,
and smile while realizing the cost,
the pain, the relief of your being,
the air is still,
the rest of us will
to see and pray for goodness to fulfill.

  1. life is short,

some only dwell for a while,
    bless all.

  2. It's always so sad when a young life withers. Bless him or her and the family.

  3. bless his family.

glad to see you share and keep it as a record.

  4. too sad.

hope that kids think more before they act.

  5. there are other options but sometimes...

    yeah, a thoughtful write.

  6. Very well done! The words bring out your emotions quite well..I'm glad I read this!

  7. a honest reflection,
    sad and beautiful.

it's kind of you doing this.

  8. I would prefer that every young person would grow into a rich, full adulthood, but unfortunately that doesn't happen. Time and time again someone I've known since birth takes their life or takes a life and either way their life is over and they've been touched by something horrible and dirty and they'll never get their innocence back. All we can do is continue to pray and to hopefully be a light to them.
This was painful to read, but it was very good. Thank you so much for sharing with us. Have a blessed week.
